While the missions themselves will be rather static by nature, clearly there's a ton of room for input. That's where you come in.
Names of astronauts
I’m starting with an initial roster of recruits named to reflect people that I know whom will either comment on this play-through or will stimulate comments from other commenters. This is all for good-natured amusement, nobody is being turned into a green alien and crashed into the moon as a form of public mockery. Keep in mind the stats are both randomized and mostly meaningless; it has a marginal effect on the Kerbals' expressions of joy and terror on a mission and that’s about it.
I have a few more names lined up but I’ll wait for feedback to come in (and for the available pilots to thin out a bit, but you didn't hear that from me). Please let me know if you want your name added to the available roster or removed from the current one.
Names of individual ships, rocket models/modules, missions, etc.
Anything that isn't a planet or moon needs to be assigned a name, otherwise I’ll just give it some boring descriptor and version number. Think of all the things that have names in NASA’s space program: Apollo 11 and the entire Apollo project, the Atlas V rocket, the Eagle moon lander, each space shuttle, and so on. We can always rename them after the fact, but for now I’m giving them placeholders.
Mission parameters, rocket design goals
I may effectively be in command of this entire program and its campaign objectives but that doesn't mean I’m open to suggestions. Do you want to skip sending a probe to the moon and go straight to risking a manned mission? Send a suborbital rocket to the arctic? Include a rover on a lunar lander? Plant a flag on a mountain? Build a space station? Rescue missions? Please let me know and I can attempt whatever’s possible. Some limitations could include available researched parts, but I can develop new ones depending on what the group wants to do next.
Flags (Mission flags and the space program flag/logo).
These designs are currently boring. I’m open to suggestions and submissions. What’d be cool is a badge for every project or mission, but we’ll focus on just getting into orbit first.Peanut Gallery commentary
Boast about your namesake's accomplishments, laugh at others' violent crashes, ask random space questions, ask why I'm bothering with all this, ask what I'm doing for the weekend, just say something!
